In high school he was a 4 time all-league selection and 2 time all state shortstop and pitcher. His athletic abilities earned him a scholarship to play baseball at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. There he was an all-conference selection and 2 time team captain. He graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and a Minor in Psychology. He is also a Certified Health and Fitness Specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine
